Review: Dustin Lynch amazing on new country single ‘Small Town Boy’ (Includes first-hand account)

Lynch’s new single was co-penned by songwriters Rhett Akins, Kyle Fishman and Ben Hayslip. Zach Crowell served as his producer, and did a solid job on this track. It has a neat echo effect to it, with catchy hooks.

“She loves a small town boy like me, she’s my ride or die baby, she’s my cool, she’s my crazy, she’s my laid back in the front seat, she’s my with me to the end girl, I’ll turn it up to ten girl, she can have anybody that she wants to be anywhere she wants to be, she loves a small town boy like me,” Lynch sings, in its infectious chorus.

The song is about the loyalty of a “small town boy” to his female lover, that any female country fan would love to have sung to them by Lynch. It is sultry and romantic at the same time. It has a Canaan Smith (“Love You Like That”) vibe to it, and that ought to be taken as a compliment.

“Small Town Boy” is available on iTunes.

The Verdict

Overall, Dustin Lynch’s new single “Small Town Boy” is a major success. His baritone vocals are rich and captivating. It is one of the best songs in his career, along with his love ballad “Cowboys and Angels” and “Mind Reader.” It garners an A rating. Well done Dustin!
