Episode six of Durarara!! x 2, titled “A Crow In The Dark Night,” is currently streaming on Crunchyroll for paid members. Free members can watch this same episode six days from now on February 21st.
Verona, the attractive blonde-haired Russian assassin, made her official appearance in the previous episode and quickly done a number on Celty. I found the situation to be funny and ironic because Celty is a dullahan, which is a being that can function without having its head attached.
Celty gets royally f—ked by Verona in their first “casual” encounter.
I have the feeling that manga, anime, and light novels often stereotype Russian assassins as being attractive with blonde-hair. The reason I bring that up is Assassination Classroom, another airing anime series, which recently introduced Irina Jelavich.
Irina is a contract assassin hired by the Japanese government to participate in the assassination of Koro-Sensei.
“B-tch-sensei” aka “Miss B-tch,” Irina’s given nicknames, is portrayed as an attractive blonde.
This episode makes the story more complex by revealing that the girl who tried to kill Shizuo in the last episode is a high-profile security target named Akane Awakusu.
I was surprised that this leads up to Celty’s current predicament because Verona and her partner, Sloan, are hired by Jinnai Yodogari to kidnap Akane. This whole situation makes me wonder how this ties into the upcoming war between the Dollars and Chikage’s Toramaru.
The chat room scene gave a brief mention to Chikage beating up the shoplifter in the previous episode, which was witnessed by Izaya’s sisters. I just love how the story is being told from different perspectives with mild references to events in the other episodes.
My big problem is that it can get confusing at times, which is why I was confused at first watching Baccano!
Mikado ultimately learns the danger that is affecting the Dollars by watching what the sisters are typing and what causes Chikage to wage war on them.
These two plots have me interested and I cannot wait to see both of them converge on each other. It is obvious that Izaya is instigating a war between the Dollars and Toramaru, but I am curious to learn his ties with the planned kidnapping of Akane.
