Country singer-songwriter Drake Milligan (and “America’s Got Talent” finalist) charms on his superb country album “Dallas/Fort Worth.”

It is an exceptional breakthrough musical effort. Milligan allows his rich, resonant voice to shine, which is reminiscent of Josh Turner meets Chris Young.

The record opens with “Sounds Like Something I’d Do” and it is followed by the mid-tempo and nonchalant “Kiss Goodbye All Night” and “Hating Everything She Tries On.”

Other highlights from the first disc include the glorious ballad “She,” as well as the liberating, uptempo, and fun “Bad Day to Be a Beer.” It closes on a fitting note with the love ballad “Dance of a Lifetime,” which is bound to become a future wedding staple for fans (the lyrics have vivid imagery).

The second disc features two soaring duets: one with Vince Gill “Goin’ Down Swingin’) and “Long Haul” featuring James Burton, the latter of which has an Elvis vibe to it.

This album is a must for fans of neo-traditional country music. It is filled with twang, baritone vocals, as well as relatable country storytelling. Equally noteworthy is “Cowboy Kind of Way.”

“Dallas/Fort Worth” is available on digital service providers by clicking here. It garners an A rating.
