The album was produced by award-winning country singer-songwriter Bryan White. It opens with the soothing title track cut “Do Love Well,” where her vocals are reminiscent of award-winning Canadian country songstress Carolyn Dawn Johnson and Tony winner Idina Menzel. “Do Love Well” was written by country singer Mitch Goudy and it features mandolin, piano, acoustic guitars, drums and piano.
She changes the pace of her album with the upbeat and fun “Southern Gentlemen,” which has a country-rock edge to it. “Aim’s Gettin’ Better” is an up-tempo and sassy tune that Diana co-wrote with Mitch Goudy, and she does her own background vocals. The gorgeous ballad “Remember The Fighter” is pure ear candy that features such traditional instruments as banjo and steel guitar.
“What My Love Sounds Like” is yet another fun, mid-tempo ditty. It closes with the ballad “Take Me Away,” which showcases her tremendous vocal range.
The Verdict
Diana Upton-Hill’s voice has been country music’s best-kept secret up until now. The secret is out. Country listeners ought to go and grab a copy or two of Do Love Well. This is an exceptional project by a truly underrated artist. Bryan White did a solid job on its production. The other female vocalists in Nashville should watch out, since Diana Upton-Hill is going place. This album garners an A rating.
