Singer-songwriter DeeAnn released her latest single “Piano in the Dark.” The new single was crafted by producer Ted Perlman, and it drops on all traditional music streaming platforms worldwide on Friday, September 19th, 2025.

DeeAnn is able to pay a moving homage to original artist and songwriter Brenda Russell by giving it a stirring, jazzy take, which is both melodically and vocally stunning.

DeeAnn is able to maintain solid control over her crisp voice, and in many ways, it is a healing and atmospheric performance. The world can use more of this music, especially in this day and age.

Listeners will be able to connect to DeeAnn’s song emotionally and spiritually thanks to its intimacy and the honesty of the lyrics, which have stood the test of time; moreover, DeeAnn is not afraid to be vulnerable on this song.

Speaking of the original recording artist and writer Brenda Russell, she was recently inducted into the Women Songwriters Hall of Fame, and rightfully so.

Now, all that DeeAnn needs to do is bring this song to rapper Flo Rida so that he can do an updated interpolation for his global smash hit “I Cry” (with DeeAnn’s soaring version).

In the meantime, “Piano in the Dark” by DeeAnn is worth more than just a passing glance, and it garners two thumbs up.

Her music is available on Apple Music and Spotify.
