Review: David Nail back stronger than ever with new ‘Fighter’ album (Includes first-hand account)

The albums opens with the upbeat and infectious “Good At Tonight,” where he collaborates with label-mates, country duo Brothers Osborne. It is followed by his latest single “Night’s On Fire,” where his velvet vocals are reminiscent of Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts. This song deserves to be his next chart-topping tune.

“Home” is a moving piano-driven collaboration with songstress Lori McKenna. “Lie With Me” would make another solid choice for a future radio single. The title track “Fighter” is raw, inspirational and compelling.

“Ease Your Pain” is filled with positivity and optimism in its lyrics. In “I Won’t Let You Go,” he is joined by Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill. “Babies” is perhaps the greatest vocal performance on the album, where one would need the Kleenex to listen to.

“Got Me Gone” features neat backing vocals, while “Champagne Promise” is a charming collaboration with rising female artist Logan Brill. It closes with the acoustic ballad “Old Man’s Symphony.”

The Verdict

Overall, David Nail has released a powerful new album with Fighter. This record is very autobiographical for Nail and he sings with a lot of heart. It earns an A rating.
