This collection takes music listeners and fans on a trip down memory lane to July of 2016, where Gilmour played two concerts at the hallowed Pompeii Amphitheater near Mount Vesuvius, 45 years after he performed there with Pink Floyd.
Without giving too much away, several of the highlight moments include the following: Gilmour and his band nail “The Great Gig in the Sky,” which is a tune that he rarely performs in his solo shows, and equally remarkable is “Wish You Were Here.”
Gilmour’s stage presence is quite exceptional, and director Gavin Elder did a brilliant job directing this film, thus bringing it to life with its visually striking scenery. It includes some of the latest technologies, including laser lights, vibrant backgrounds and pyrotechnics, which add to the concert’s appeal. Gilmour and his band are able to take their listening audience on a journey of Pink Floyd’s music over the past five decades.
