Review: David Frizzell amazing on new country single ‘Mother Mary’ (Includes first-hand account)

This song has a biblical reference to it, where many years ago, the angel Gabriel had told Mary not to be afraid, since she would give birth to Jesus. From that moment on, Mary felt what every mother would have experienced before giving birth.

With that thought in mind, Frizzell wrote a poignant song that touches his audience on an emotional level. It is a song about a loving mother that expresses her feelings about her coming child to “Mother Mary.” The end result is a marvelous duet with his wife, Jo.

Country fans and listeners that loved “You’re The Reason God Made Oklahoma,” his classic country collaboration with songstress Shelly West, will certainly enjoy “Mother Mary.”

The Verdict

Overall, David Frizzell is one of those artists that only gets better with age. “Mother Mary” is one beautiful country ballad from start to finish, and this song about faith is quite inspirational. They don’t make country artists like David Frizzell anymore. It is traditional country to the core, and it garners an A rating.
