It was co-penned by such country music songwriters as Heather Morgan, Josh Osborne and Jimmy Robbins. Many fans and listeners can relate to this tune, especially since it can mean different things to different folks. The song is laid-back with neat hooks, although it may take more than one listen to get used to.

“Cause like that red dirt dust needs a little kicking’ up, Just like that empty hand needs a little ice cold can,” Fanning sings.

The Verdict

“Doin’ Country Right” shows a new side to rising country singer-songwriter David Fanning and his artistry. It has many elements of “bro-country” in there that will please modern country fans. It is very different from “Drink You Away.” His new single garners 3.5 out of 5 stars.
