“Tough Love” deals with military relationships and personal relationships and they can be survived thanks to “tough love.”
A stirring country ballad, “Tough Love” hits home to David Allen Buckner, especially since he served our country for seven years, in the capacity of army sergeant in the National Guard. He is originally from North Carolina, and in the song’s music video his acoustic guitar is graced in red, white and blue, the colors of the American flag.
The Verdict
For anybody who has yet to discover rising country singer David Allen Buckner, they are certainly missing out. His songs are simple, yet he sings them beautifully and from the heart. There are no gimmicks: only a gifted man who is able to impress with his rich, baritone vocals, accompanying himself on acoustic guitar that can send chills down one’s spine. His charming vocals are reminiscent of such country stars as Craig Morgan (“That’s What I Love About Sunday”) and Gary LeVox, the lead singer of Rascal Flatts. To use a military analogy, Buckner deserves to be saluted for a job well done. “Tough Love” garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
