Singer-songwriter Daryl Mosley released his new album “A Life Well Lived” on July 21, via Pinecastle Records.
The CD was produced by Mosley and Danny Roberts of The Grascals. Mosley plays bass throughout the collection with Roberts on the mandolin. They are joined by Tony Wray on guitar and banjo, Adam Haynes on the fiddle, as well as various guest background vocalists.
The album opens with the soothing title track “A Life Well Lived,” and it is followed by the bittersweet ballad “Back When We Were Boys” and “Walking Man,” which is a fitting homage to some inspirational men.
Ronnie Booth of The Booth Brothers joins him on the gospel tune “Big God.” Equally uplifting is “Mayberry State of Mind,” and “The Bible in the Drawer” is another spiritual offering in this musical effort.
Listeners get to experience the gravel in Mosley’s voice in “Working Man’s Prayer,” while “We Need More of That” is about enjoying the simplicities and joys of life to the fullest.
After the fiddle-driven “Nobody But Her,” he picks up with pace with “Hillbilly Graham” and it closes on an effusive note with “Thankful.”
The Verdict
Overall, “A Life Well Lived” by Darly Mosley is a sincere reflection on such subject matters as family, faith, and friendships, all of which are relatable. It is easy listening and filled with serenity.
At times, it is nostalgic but from a more melancholic standpoint as he sings tunes about simple small-town life. The banjo, mandolin, and fiddle, all help add to this CD’s appeal, coupled by Mosley’s rich, baritone vocals.
