Review: Darlene Love back with vibrant music video for ‘Forbidden Nights’ (Includes first-hand account)

This is the lead single from her upcoming studio album, Introducing Darlene Love, which will be out on September 18 on Columbia Records. It was written by Elvis Costello and it garnered a rave review from Digital Journal.

Her music video, which was filmed is Asbury Park, New Jersey, is vibrant, with a feel-good vibe to it. Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Darlene Love is seen driving in a Cadillac with three of her back-up singers in the back seat. She picks up two more passengers, which are her celebrity friends, rock star Joan Jett and Paul Shaffer (best known as David Letterman’s musical director). They park the Cadillac on the boardwalk, where Love performs “Forbidden Nights” for the masses at a live concert.

Other musicians who make cameos in this music video include “The Boss” Bruce Springsteen, songwriter Elvis Costello and her producer Steven Van Zandt.

The Verdict

Overall, Darlene Love has done a superb job on her “Forbidden Nights” music video. Her voice is still in top-notch form, and she is able to connect well with her fans and listeners, proving that she is one of rock and roll music’s finest female artists. The video garners an A rating.
