Review: Dannic amazing at Marquee New York, talks Fonk and Dannicated (Includes interview and first-hand account)

Dannic had the “Big Apple” crowd with him every step of the way, as he played his two-hour DJ set in the heart of New York City. Prior to his show at Marquee, the superstar DJ sat down and chatted with me about his latest endeavors.

On performing at Marquee New York, Dannic said, “I’m really excited. It has been at least two years since I played here. I love playing clubs and this is one of my favorite clubs to play.”

For Dannic, Miami Music Week this year was a great deal of fun. “I loved it. I had six shows, and I played a lot of pool parties. It was really good. It is always good to see all my fellow colleagues and all of my friends,” he said.

Dannic acknowledged that 2016 was a great of change. “There was a lot of change, and obviously me finding myself again with Fonk Recordings and Fonk Radio. Everything is now how I want it to be,” he said. “I’m really happy with Fonk. It is really starting to pick up what I am aiming for and what the sound is going to be. It is great.”

He shared that he premiered a brand new track with one of his biggest idols in the genre, Fedde Le Grand on the song “I Need a Miracle.” “I am really happy with that. It is definitely a dream come true, and furthermore, I am focusing on making different tracks as well. It is going to be an interesting year music-wise,” he said.

The hardest part of his job as a musician involves travelling and being away from home all the time, yet he finds inspirations for his travels in his music. He is able to share exclusive content with his fans through his Dannicated interactive website.

On his plans for the future, Dannic said, “Making more and more music and focusing on Fonk Recordings and doing what I love to do, which is DJing and making people happy.”

Last year, he ranked No. 70 on the Top 100 DJs poll by the prestigious DJ Magazine. “It is appreciation for everything that you do. For me, I don’t really look at the list. I didn’t campaign at all. It is far more important that I have good shows and fans that appreciate my music,” he said.

Each day, Dannic is motivated by music. “I am music kind of guy. That’s my passion and my biggest motivation,” he said. Dannic defined success as “Being happy with what you do.”
