Review: Dailey & Vincent back with new live album on Cracker Barrel (Includes first-hand account)

It opens with “We’re All Heart To Learn,” which has a roots vibe to it, where they are backed with an orchestra. It is followed by the bittersweet “I’ll Leave My Heart in Tennessee.” “Nine Yards” is a neat instrumental track, while “Simple Man” is a lyrically powerful tune. “Mississippi River” has a rich, traditional vibe to it, and they tip their hats to The Statler Brothers with “Oh Baby Mine,” as they are accompanied yet again with an orchestra.

“Elizabeth” is yet another homage to The Statler Brothers, and they do the song justice, and they give their own spit on “Cumberland River.” “Beyond Romance” is an eloquent duet and they co-wrote the inspirational “American Pride,” with Country Music Hall of Famers Bill Anderson and Jimmy Fortune, which speaks volumes in itself.

It closes with the orchestra-driven “Till They Came Home” and “Less of Me.”

The Verdict

This is one live bluegrass collection that is well-crafted from start to finish. Dailey & Vincent are able to deliver. It is recommended for all fans of bluegrass and country music. With 15 tracks, one can go no wrong. It is no wonder that Dailey & Vincent are one of the most decorated musicians in the bluegrass genre. Their live album garners an A rating.
