Episode 7 of Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!, titled “Love, Summer Camp and Toothbrushes,” is currently streaming on Crunchyroll and FUNimation for paid members. Free subscribers on both platforms can watch the same episode six days from now on February 24th.
I love Yumoto’s clueless and off the wall approach to things like waiting at the train station for his beach trip, but realizing that he shouldn’t go like he is dressed for the beach yet. It was funny to see the other four Earth Defense Club members hiding in the booth as they lament about Yumoto.
En’s slacker personality made the beginning scene funny.
I have to say that En is a total d-bag for complaining that it’s too hot to go on a summer trip even though he proposed the idea in the first place. The face that En makes high grades in class and slacks off does not surprise because there are many academically gifted people like him in the world.
Things go from funny to f—king funny as they arrive at the beach hoping to meet girls, but see the beach is only occupied by dudes. I can imagine the beach is occupied by guys to keep true to the theme of “all guys.”
It reminds me that this anime series does not have a female presence.
All of the characters in the anime are guys. They hang out at Yumoto’s bath house, which is filled by guys. They attend Binan Academy, which is an all-boys school. Now they go to the beach and see nothing but guys in trucks and thongs.
I assumed that Yumoto picked the spot, but was shocked that Atsushi picked it out.
They were looking for the family friendly “Danran Beach,” but ended up on the wild man “Danran Beach.”
I went “holy f—k” at the S & M clad transvestite server at the beach cafe. I was expecting normal dudes, but this ended up being one highlights of this episode.
En’s nonchalant and relaxed comment about the cafe made me laugh hard.
I was surprised that Io complained about somebody else using his toothbrush and declared it as a “criminal act.” This reminds me of how the Earth Defense Club members debate and argue over trivial things that play a role in the monster of the week.
Things get funnier when the “mystery” turns into a homage to Detective Conan as Io acts like a detective in finding out who used his toothbrush. It got funnier when everybody accused each other as the culprit.
I laughed harder when the scene turned into an implied gay joke.
The “courage” test keeps piling on the gay jokes when the Earth Defense Club members are paranoid that one is gay for the other.
The scene between Io and Ryou made me laugh when the latter is clinging to the former in fear. It causes Io to assume that Ryou is a closeted homosexual and that his womanizing ways are just an illusion.
I was surprised that the scene turned into a commentary on homophobia, when the four “normal” members assume that Wombat is secretly a pedophile waiting to molest them in their sleep.
This was an interesting and highly entertaining episode even though there was no monster battle. In a funny way, episode seven is perhaps the most f—ked episode of Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!
