Episode three of Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!, titled “Feel Love, Narcissus!,” is currently streaming on Crunchyroll and FUNimation for all paid members. Free members can watch this episode six days from now. If you are familiar with Greek mythology, then you should know that this episode is going to deal with narcissistic personality disorder aka “narcissism.”
The episode starts off with Kurotori standing in front of a mirror admiring himself. It is revealed that he is the head of the school’s ballet club and has the goal of being the “Number 1 Pretty Boy of Binan High.”
I doubt that is a title you would want to take at an all-boys school.
He’s lucky that nobody is taking embarrassing photos or videos of him. In this day and age, Kureo would get “famous” all over YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other forms of social media.
It sucks for En and Atsushi, who walk in when Kureo accidentally drops his towel while doing a pirouette.
I laughed when they decide to pretend they saw nothing.
Yumoto’s denseness of the situation only made it funnier. In layman speak, En and Atsushi are homophobic. Even if you are not, it does not necessarily mean you want to see another dude’s “junk.”
That is the type of questioning that will make people think you’re hiding in the closet when there’s none to hide in. I didn’t expect Yumoto to say the next stupid thing. If he was gay that would be understandable.
Kurotori’s line to the two can be unnerving depending on how homophobic you are.
Unfortunately for Io and Ryu, Kurotori flagged them down to join his ballet club because they “caught his eye.” Again, that answer is up for you own personal interpretation and can mean anything. If you are homophobic, then that line might be sexual.
I love Io and Ryu’s reply, respectively to make more cash and to score with attractive females.
The fight scene with Kurotori, who turned into Black Swan, is perhaps the funniest fight scene that I have seen so far. This reminds me of the episode from South Park, where the town was flooded by people that emigrated from the future.
The next scene got awkwardly funny when Yumoto simply hugged Kurotori.
Episode three was one big gay joke, but very funny though. I thought it was interesting that this episode creatively addressed the issue of homosexuality and homophobia while not taking it seriously.
This episode is not for the homophobes.
