Colin Blunstone of The Zombies releases his timeless “One Year” and “That Same Year” collections, which are highly recommended for any listeners and fans of his musical work. Digital Journal has the scoop.
A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Colin Blunstone has joined forces with Sundazed Music, in an effort to celebrate the 50th anniversary of “One Year” with a special double LP expanded edition.
Every song on this collection has its own identity, and they are as relevant and compelling today as when he recorded them over half a century ago.
It was mastered by Joe Lizzi and cut by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio. Nine of these recordings are previously unheard compositions from the vault.
“One Year” is an exceptional seminal solo album that manages to be exuberant, eclectic, and very personal. Some of this journalist’s favorite tracks include “Smokey Day,” “Say You Don’t Mind,” “Caroline Goodbye” and “I Can’t Live Without You.” He allows his rich, resonant voice to shine on this musical effort coupled by his expressive lyrics and storytelling abilities.
“That Same Year” is equally glorious and it continues where “One Year” left off and it brings a deeper level of intimacy, and it stands out both lyrically and sonically. Several standout tunes include “I Won’t Let You Down,” “Sing Your Own Song,” “I Really Do Love You” and the closing song “You Really Were a Surprise.”
His audience will truly be in for a real musical experience. It garners an A rating.
In addition, the packaging is artistic and creative as well. It was packaged in a gatefold jacket that features previously unreleased photos of the ironic rocker and new liner notes that were written by Blunstone himself.
