Review: Cherie Currie, Brie Darling release badass album ‘The Motivator’ (Includes first-hand account)

The CD, produced by Dave Darling, opens with the title cut single where Currie and Darling are able to instantly lure their fans and listeners in this new project. They slow down the tempo on “Gimme Shelter,” where they allow their harking, raspy voices to shine. Equally memorable is “Gimme Some Truth.”

“I’m Too Good, That’s Just Too Bad” is unapologetic and they pick up the pace with “This is Our Time.” They are able to dust off ”
He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother” and give it their own haunting twist.

After the spitfire “Something in the Air,” it is followed by the nonchalant and sassy “For What It’s Worth” and it closes with the upbeat and fun “Higher Ground.”

The Motivator is available on Apple Music and on Spotify.

The Verdict

Overall, Cherie Currie and Brie Darling are able to rock hard on this new album, The Motivator. It is edgy and they exude a great deal of charm. There is a lot of variety on this project, and it’s a gift from two rock goddesses. It is a record of female empowerment and it garners an A rating.
