Cher released her first-ever holiday album “Christmas” on October 20 via Warner Records.
It opens on a fun note with the upbeat “DJ Play a Christmas Song,” and it is followed by the joyful “What Christmas Means to Me,” where she is joined by Stevie Wonder, and the jubilant “Run Rudolph Run,” which displays her harking husky voice.
The highlight track on this album is “Christmas (Baby, Please Come Home)” where Cher collaborates with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Darlene Love; they both showcase their powerhouse crystalline vocals, to the point where it is hard to differentiate where Cher picked up and where Darlene Love left off.
Equally noteworthy is “Drop Top Sleigh Ride,” where she is joined by Tyga. Cher slows down the tempo on “Please Come Home for Christmas,” and the nonchalant follow-up tune “I Like Christmas” seems to be the theme of this album.
“Angels In The Snow” would be a solid choice for the quintessential singalong tune. “Christmas Ain’t Christmas Without You” is also a radio-friendly recording.
Michael Bublé and Cher sound divine on a rousing rendition of his signature song “Home.”
After a flirty and sassy version of “Santa Baby,” it closes with the up-tempo “Put a Little Holiday in Your Heart,” where she is joined by Cyndi Lauper, and with the nostalgic ballad “This Will Be Our Year,” where she leaves her audience wanting to hear more.

The Verdict
Overall, Cher is like fine wine on this new album, where she only gets better with age and experience. It is hard to believe that this is her first-ever Christmas project, but hopefully, it will not be her last one. “Christmas” garners two giant thumbs up.
Mariah Carey ought to watch out… With this new collection, it is evident that there is a new “Christmas Queen” in town.
