Review: Charlie Puth delights on new ‘Some Type of Love’ EP (Includes first-hand account)

Puth’s EP opens with the sultry and impressive “I Won’t Tell A Soul,” and it is followed with his captivating “Marvin Gaye” duet, where he collaborates with pop superstar Meghan Trainor, who is best known for “All About That Bass.”

The title track “Some Type of Love” displays his rich voice, where the listener can easily recall British vocalist Sam Smith. It closes with “Suffer,” where he showcases his falsetto.

The Verdict

Overall, Charlie Puth’s newest EP is well-crafted and distinct. The only thing that would have made it better would have been the inclusion of “See You Again,” his chart-topping collaboration with rapper Wiz Khalifa, in honor of the late Paul Walker. Other than that, it garners 4.5 out of 5 stars. This young star’s future in music seems very promising.
