Pat Williams directed this movie from a screenplay by Salmons. It is based on Joanne Fluke’s book “Carrot Cake Murder.”
The synopsis is: The discovery of a skeleton amid the rubble of a building undergoing renovation reveals that one of Lake Eden’s beloved citizens is not who he claimed to be.
Much to the dismay of her fiancé, Detective Mike Kingston (Cameron Mathison), Hannah (Alison Sweeney) begins to investigate the case on her own.
As she tries to piece together the events that led to the murder and tries to learn the victim’s true identity, Hannah even calls on her mother Delores (Barbara Niven) as she works to bring the killer to justice and uncover the truth.
This is a film that will keep viewers at the edge of the seats, asking themselves “Whodunnit?” The twists and turns in the plot will keep the audience engaged at all times.
Cameron Mathison is suave as Mike, while Ali Sweeney showcases her bubbly personality as the titular character Hannah. They have good chemistry and their warm rapport allows for more resonance.
Veteran actress Barbara Niven is delightful as Delores. The fact that Gabriel Hogan is back as Norman in this mystery franchise is an added bonus.
A well-written and solid mystery all around, “Carrot Cake Murder” will certainly strike a chord with the hearts of fans and viewers. Viewers ought to grab some popcorn and enjoy this wild and crazy mystery ride. It garners two thumbs up.
