Review: Carrie Underwood stunning on new single ‘Heartbeat’ (Includes first-hand account)

Underwood co-wrote the song with Zach Crowell and Ashley Gorley. It is the follow-up to her spitfire single “Smoke Break.” Sam Hunt lends his velvet voice in the background vocals.

“Saying everything without making a sound, a cricket choir in the background, underneath a harvest moon, standing on your shoes in my bare feet, dancing to the rhythm of your heartbeat,” Underwood sings.

The Verdict

Overall, Carrie Underwood tackles the subject matter in “Heartbeat” with much delicacy and sentimentalism. It garners an A rating, and it should do well for her on the Billboard Hot Country charts.
