Review: Carrie Underwood rocks Pier 17 in New York with country hits (Includes first-hand account)

Chart-topping country music duo Dan + Shay served as her opening act, where they were able to warm up the stage for the country queen.

Her set included all of her “Greatest Hits” such as “Wasted,” and “Blown Away,” where she was able to nail the high notes. She took her fans on a trip down memory lane with “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” and equally noteworthy were “Good Girl,” “Last Name,” “Smoke Break,” “Church Bells” and “Dirty Laundry.” Underwood’s vocal range is quite incredible.

The highlight moment was when sang her poignant ballad “Heartbeat,” and it was an added bonus for her to include her latest radio single “Cry Pretty,” which is off her forthcoming studio album, that will be released in September via her new record label, Capitol Nashville.

Underwood closed her 14-song set with her Grammy-winning smash single, the unapologetic “Before He Cheats,” where she left her fans wanting to hear more.

The Verdict

Overall, Carrie Underwood put on a fantastic live show at The Rooftop at Pier 17 in New York, just in time for the Independence Day festivities. Vocally, Underwood proved that she is still one of the best female recording artists in the contemporary country genre. Her live set garnered an A rating.
