Review: Canaan Smith fantastic on eponymous new country music EP (Includes first-hand account)

His EP opens with his latest radio single, “Love You Like That,” which is a Top 20 hit on country radio, and rightfully so. It is a raw and nitty gritty love song that has a Brantley Gilbert meets Cole Swindell vibe to it.

It is followed by the soaring ballad “Two Lane Road,” which displays his wide range as a country recording artist. “Mad Love” has an infectious chorus, and it is another noteworthy performance by Smith.

“Hole In A Bottle” is an upbeat, drinking tune and a great deal of fun. It closes with the melodically eloquent ballad “Stuck,” which is worthy of becoming a single in the future.

The Verdict

Canaan Smith is superb on his five-track EP, and country fans will be yearning for a full-length project from Smith. All songs on this collection are polished and well-written. One can hear Smith’s heart on these compelling vocals. This studio effort garners an A rating. Smith deserves to become the next big star in the genre.
