On August 27, Cameron Mathison and Laura Wright of “General Hospital” performed at Governor’s Comedy Club in Levittown on Long Island, and their show was delightful.

Wright portrays Carly Corinthos, and Mathison plays Drew Cain on the hit ABC daytime drama. This in-person fan event was produced by Coastal Entertainment.

The actors shared some behind-the-scenes stories about their fond experiences on “General Hospital,” Wright talked about getting her start on “Loving,” where she played Ally Rescott, and Cameron Mathison spoke about his audition for “All My Children,” where he ultimately played fan-favorite Ryan Lavery.

Laura Wright reveals her favorite motto to live by

On her favorite motto to live by, Wright said, “I always work on myself and I try to better myself. I want to see the world differently. I just finished a six-month Mastermind course by Peter Crone, and he helps you see the world through a different perspective.”

“There is a mantra I like to say in Sanskrit called ‘tat tvam asi’ and that means ‘I am that.’ Whenever I have a judgment, or a blessing, or something good or a negative thought come to my mind, I immediately say ‘I am that.’ Anything we judge or see in anyone else, or love in someone else has to also be in us or we wouldn’t recognize it. Recently, I have learned to say ‘I choose to,’ ‘I get to’ or ‘I love to’,” she elaborated.

Cameron Mathison: Working with his wife on the show

Mathison opened up about his wife, Vanessa, being afforded the privilege to play the role of Mia on the show. “The character, Mia, who is an executive coach is played by my wife,” he admitted.

“Vanessa is not an actress but she did a pretty good job considering that,” Mathison said. “I told our executive producer, Frank Valentini, that when I met Vanessa it was back in New York City, and she had no idea who I was. Back then, I was a pretty big deal on ‘All My Children,’ when Ryan was the guy on that show. When I met her she told me ‘I’m sorry, I only watch General Hospital.’ When I told Frank that story, he thought it would be a good idea to get her on the show.”

“Vanessa ran lines with me so many times for that scene, and it was so amazing to see her live that ultimate dream. That show meant everything to her through the years. Once it happened, it was so special,” Mathison added.

Following their insightful stories, and a Question and Answer (Q & A) session with the fans, Wright invited an audience member who had been watching the show for the longest time to participate in a “General Hospital” trivia contest with Mathison.

The Verdict

Overall, it was a pleasant and entertaining in-person fan event at Governor’s Comedy Club on Long Island, where Laura Wright and Cameron Mathison certainly had the fans with them every step of the way.

Tune in on ABC on weekdays to watch “General Hospital,” or stream it on Hulu.
