Scott’s version was a lot slower, and it brought out the emotion in the song’s lyrics. He truly sang from the heart and it was crisp and haunting. He was able to allow listeners and viewers to experience the melancholic tune from a male standpoint, and he was able to succeed at that. It is no wonder that the entire venue, where the Britain’s Got Talent auditions were held, rewarded him with a standing ovation, including the four judges.
On his Facebook page, he inquired as to whether or not fans would want to hear his version of “Dancing On My Own” on iTunes, and the consensus was “yes.”
The version that Scott posted on his YouTube channel, which was arranged by Jamie Cleaton was equally stunning and impressive, showcasing his raw and natural talent. His vocals are reminiscent of Adam Levine of Maroon 5, and ironically enough, Scott was a member of Maroon 4, a Maroon 5 cover band in England.
The Verdict
Overall, Calum Scott does a fantastic job on Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” and makes the song his own. Listeners ought to look forward to more music from Scott in the near future. His talent is very promising. His version of “Dancing On My Own” garners an A rating.
