Nils Lofgren plays electric and acoustic guitar, pedal steel, vocal, and Springsteen’s wife, Patti Scialfa, is featured on backing vocals, acoustic guitar and percussion. Garry Tallent plays bass, with Soozie Tyrell on acoustic guitar, violin, percussion and vocal. Finally, producer Stevie Van Zandt plays electric guitars, mandolin, vocal, with Max Weinberg on drums. The song was recorded by John Cooper and mixed by Jon Altschiller.

The Verdict
Overall, Bruce Springsteen has done a superb job, tipping his hat to the late musician Prince with “Purple Rain.” Springsteen, who is affectionately known as “The Boss,” did this song more than justice thanks to his rich, haunting and raspy vocals. It garners an A rating.
