“Y’all doing all right?” Young asked the New York crowd after hips opening song. He went on to ask the fans if they were excited for Brett Eldredge and for Luke Bryan, and it is safe to say that the venue’s response was a resounding yes.
Young continued with the ballad “You Ain’t Here To Kiss Me,” where blue and green lights dimmed from the stage.
“Thank you so much,” he said, following its warm reception, and he went on to introduce his band members to the New York crowd.
After he took off his plaid flannel shirt, Young noted that it was always a bucket list item for him to someday play Madison Square Garden. It was followed by a remarkable performance of his latest single “In Case You Didn’t Know,” where he sat on the stage and serenaded his fans, as yellow and blue lights shined from the stage. “I love you New York City,” he said, and took selfies for his fans with their phones.
He closed his set with his breakthrough radio single, “Sleep Without You,” where everybody in the audience was singing along with him on the chorus.
A California native, Young thanked headliner Luke Bryan for having him out on this tour with him, and he also thanked the New York country radio station, NASH FM 94.7, for being good to him. “It was an honor to play for you all,” he said, effusively.
The Verdict
Overall, Brett Young did a great job opening for country stars Brett Eldredge and Luke Bryan at Madison Square Garden in New York City. It is evident that Young was born to sing and perform. His live set at the Garden garnered an A rating.
