Review: Brandy Clark amazing at Stage 17 for NASH FM 94.7 radio station (Includes first-hand account)

The event was hosted by beloved air personality Katie Neal from NASH FM 94.7. Clark noted that in honor of 4/20, she decided to sing “Get High” as her opening song, where she showcased her harking voice as she accompanied herself on acoustic guitar.

Neal subsequently congratulated Clark for her “New Female Vocalist of the Year” nomination at the Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards. Clark shared that she has been nominated for “New Artist” for several different awards shows, all in different years. “I’ve been new for a while now,” Clark said, with a sweet laugh.

She introduced “Girl Next Door” as her first single on country radio to make the Top 40, which was very “cool” for the singer-songwriter. During her infectious performance, she has the audience stomping their feet and clapping along with her.

“Thank you,” she said, graciously, and immediately she broke into the highlight song of her set, which was “Three Kids No Husband.” It was a haunting and delicate tune, where her vocals were simply glorious. The control and the emotion of her voice is quite impeccable.

Clark noted that she has released two studio albums and she has been starting to think about ideas for a new album. “Every day I’m trying to write something I’m on fire about,” she said, prior to closing her solo, acoustic set on a witty note, with her favorite revenge song, the sassy and mid-tempo “Daughter.”

The Verdict

Overall, Brandy Clark was superb at Stage 17 for NASH FM 94.7. She was able to give the fans an incredible live acoustic set, where her honey-rich vocals and prowess on acoustic guitar did all the talking. Her voice is reminiscent of such country songstresses as Gretchen Wilson meets Deana Carter, coupled with the looks of Martina McBride (and all of these should be taken as a compliment). Clark’s live show garnered five out of five stars.
