Review: Bluegrass star Becky Buller wins big at the 2018 IBMA awards (Includes first-hand account)

Becky Buller, who is signed to Dark Shadow Recording, won the award for “Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year” for “Speakin’ To That Mountain,” which she co-wrote with Jeff Hyde. The Becky Buller Band performed that song at the IBMA award ceremony a few moments prior to winning that prestigious accolade.

She was also honored to be part of the “First Ladies of Bluegrass,” where she performed with Alison Brown, Missy Raines, Sierra Hull, and Molly Tuttle. The group of female musicians won the IBMA award for “Recorded Event of the Year” for “Swept Away,” which was released via Compass Records.

Her banjo player, Ned Luberecki, was honored as the “Banjo Player of the Year” by the IBMA.

Stephen Mougin, the head of Dark Shadow Recording, expressed how proud he is of the hard work and dedication of everybody at the label family. “These collaborations, performances, and recordings are a shining beacon of the qualities our genre demands and deserves,” Mougin said, in a press release. He also thanked the IBMA for bringing people together through their universal love of bluegrass music.
