Review: Billy Gilman amazing on ‘The Voice’ with Adele cover (Includes first-hand account)

The control he maintained over his powerhouse vocals was quite exceptional. Within a matter of seconds, he was able to belt out notes, and go from high to low, with equal comfort and ease. All four judges (Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys) turned their chairs for Gilman thanks to his moving performance, and praised him for the delivery and execution of his vocal. He was able to form a strong connection with the crowd and audiences that were tuning in at home.

It is great to see him blossom and mature as a performer over the years. He totally owned this Adele song. He sang with a great deal of heart and charisma. Gilman’s passion for his craft is evident.

The Verdict

Overall, Billy Gilman was spectacular on The Voice with his cover of Adele’s “When We Were Young.” Gilman has consistently been one of Nashville’s most underrated vocalists. He is not afraid to showcase his vulnerability as a recording artist. With this dynamic performance, he has instantly put himself as one of the front-runners of the reality competition. He deserved a standing ovation for a job well done.
