On August 11, pop group Big Time Rush headlined the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.
This show was their penultimate stop of their “Can’t Get Enough” North American Tour. A pop boy band, Big Time Rush is made up of such members as James Maslow, Kendall Schmidt, Logan Henderson, and Carlos PenaVega.
The Kia Forum venue is located next to the SoFi Stadium, which was where Taylor Swift recently performed multiple show dates.
With deafening fan screams, the group performed “Can’t Get Enough” while everybody had their phones up. “Los Angeles,” Logan Henderson shouted. “How are we feeling tonight?”
“I want to welcome you all to the ‘Can’t Get Enough’ Tour,” Maslow said. “Who is ready to have some fun tonight?” Maslow added and immediately broke into “Elevate” and “Song For You.”
It was neat to hear them perform songs from their latest pop studio offering, “Another Life,” which included “Waves” and “Weekends,” both of which showcased their wide range as a musical group.
Their brief acoustic segment was an added treat since it allowed their fans to experience their voices and velvet harmonies in their purest forms in such songs as “All Over Again,” “Any Kind of Guy,” and “Ask You Tonight.”
Equally noteworthy were “Forget You Now,” as well as “Love Me Love Me” and “Paralyzed,” where Big Time Rush went into the crowd and serenaded their audience.
Medley of songs
The only downside is that several songs during the medley portion of the show (such as “City is Ours,” “Famous,” “Big Night” and “Shot in the Dark”) should have been sung in their entirety (as opposed to small snippets) because they are some of the strongest songs in their musical catalog (and the ones that the fans gravitated towards to the most), but since they wanted to focus on their “Another Life” album it was somewhat understandable. Several young fans in the audience acknowledged that these were the songs that got them into Big Time Rush and their music in the first place.
Big Time Rush came back for a three-song encore which included “Windows Down,” the throwback “Boyfriend,” and “Til I Forget About You” was the perfect sendoff for their fans.
After previously seeing them perform live on the East Coast earlier this summer (at the Jones Beach Theater on Long Island), it was evident that the fan reaction was stronger and more passionate on the West Coast.
The Verdict
In summation, Big Time Rush put on an upbeat show at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles. They had a good fan turnout, and it was an immersive and fun concert experience.
The girls in the audience felt a feeling of nostalgia, especially since the music brought them back to their high school and junior high school days, at a time when they were watching their show “Big Time Rush” on Nickelodeon.
They had the Los Angeles audience in the palm of their hands the whole evening, and Big Time Rush proved once again how underrated they are in the contemporary music scene.
James Maslow, Kendall Schmidt, Carlos PenaVega, and Logan Henderson were able to put on an entertaining and engaging live show at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, which garnered two thumbs up.
