Review: Better Than Ezra plays The Paramount for ‘Under The Sun’ (Includes first-hand account)

They shared the stage with Eve 6, Uncle Kracker, as well as Mark McGrath and his band Sugar Ray, the latter of which was the headlining act.

Better Than Ezra began their set with the uplifting, rocking tune “Good” and it was followed by the spitfire “Extra Ordinary.”

Their highlight vocal of the night was their cover of alternative rock band James’ “Laid,” where everybody was singing along with them. Front-man Kevin Griffin rocked on lead vocals and guitar, Tom Drummond delivered on bass and backing vocals, and Michael Jerome was able to put on a superb cowbell drum solo. They continued with “Desperately Wanting” and they closed with “In the Blood.”

The Verdict

Overall, Better Than Ezra put on a solid show at The Paramount in Huntington that was fun and nostalgic, especially for fans of 90s music. Their mini-concert garnered 3.5 out of 5 stars.
