Review: Bette Midler and other acts perform at Forest Hills Stadium in NY (Includes first-hand account)

DJ Cassidy opened his set by spinning records, and it was followed by the Village People, who are best known for their classic “YMCA,” which was their closing number. Despite the heavy rainfall, the fans in New York were able to get into these songs.

Veteran producer, songwriter and guitarist Nile Rodgers brought out his special musical guest, the Divine Miss M herself, Grammy winner Bette Midler, who sang four of her smash hits including “Wind Beneath My Winds,” “From a Distance,” as well as “The Rose” and the uptempo “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” where Midler was able to take her fans on a trip down memory lane.

Rodgers returned yet again to perform a set, while Earth Wind and Fire closed the show at Forest Hills Stadium with their signature R&B, soul and funk classics. These songs included “Boogie Wonderland,” the upbeat “Sing a Song,” “September,” “After the Love Has Gone,” “Let’s Groove,” “Fantasy” and “In the Stone.”
