Review: Bebe Rexha superb at The Paramount on Long Island (Includes first-hand account)

This show was presented by the hit Long Island radio station, 106.1 BLI. “Long Island, how are you feeling?” Rexha asked. She opened her set with “Take Me Home,” which had an electro dance vibe to it, and she displayed her dynamic vocal range, instantly luring her New York audience in her show, where she had them jumping along.

“It feels so good to be back in New York,” Rexha admitted. She shared that she was born in New York, but she moved to Los Angeles, prior to noting that she wrote songs that became hits for other artists, which included the Eminem and Rihanna collaboration “The Monster.”

She subsequently revealed that she is the voice behind David Guetta and Afrojack’s “Hey Mama,” and she delivered a soaring rendition of the electro house tune. Orange and blue lights dimmed from the stage during this performance, which featured Rexha squatting and twerking towards the end.

Although Rexha is in her 20’s, she acknowledged that being a teenager is hard, and taking on the role of the “big sister,” her advice for her teenage fans in the crowd was for them to “love themselves,” since nothing else matters. She continued with “Can’t Stop Drinking About You,” which became as a haunting ballad and built up into a fun, upbeat track. “Long Island, put your hands up in the air,” she said, prior to adding that she has not been home for the past six months, and tonight was special for her, since her mother was in the audience, and she was able to single her out and give her mom a well-deserved shout-out.

She was able to get their fans to turn off their cell phones, as she sang an acoustic version of her song “Human,” where she showcased her vulnerability as a recording artist. It resonated well with her fans, who were clapping along. Rexha closed with the infectious “Me, Myself & I.” “Make some noise, Long Island,” she said.

The Verdict

Overall, Bebe Rexha put on a terrific live set at The Paramount in Huntington. She deserves to become the next big female star in music. It was evident that Rexha was born to entertain. Her show garnered two thumbs up.
