Review: Ashley Monroe dazzles on new single ‘On To Something Good’ (Includes first-hand account)

“On To Something Good” is uplifting, fun, coupled with a neat groove and melody. Her single was produced by Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill and Justin Niebank, and it was released via her record label, Warner Music Nashville. It is the follow-up to “Lonely Tonight,” her critically-acclaimed collaboration with country mega-star and label-mate Blake Shelton, which topped the Billboard Hot Country charts.

“I can’t tell you how or where I’m heading now, but the winding of the road is steadying my soul, Feels like I’m coming home,” Monroe sings.

The Verdict

Ashley Monroe has a voice that is one in a million. Her vocals are mellifluous, warm and impressive. She is certainly a contemporary version of Lee Ann Womack, and that ought to be taken as a compliment. Monroe always manages to stay true to her country music roots. Her new single “On To Something Good” deserves more than just a passing glance, especially since it showcases her wide range as an artist. It garners an A rating.
