Review: Aretha Franklin flawless on Carole King tribute at Kennedy Honors

Franklin performed a spell-binding live rendition of “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” which left President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and Carole King herself in total awe of Franklin’s talent.

A multi-Grammy award winner, Franklin accompanied herself on piano half-way through the song, prior to getting up to the microphone and belting out the rest for a grand finale, which earned Franklin a lengthy standing ovation for her excellent rendition.

Throughout her respected career in the music industry, Franklin is a member of three Hall of Fames, which include the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005, as well as the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2012.

The Verdict

Overall, Aretha Franklin’s rendition of “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” garnered an A rating. Carole King’s reaction to her soulful performance says it all. Franklin proves to still be at the top of her game vocally.
