Rayel began his set punctually on 1:30 a.m., and it was met with a roaring applause from his dedicated electronic dance music (EDM) fans. He showcased a great deal of energy and enthusiasm.
His show featured such noteworthy tunes as “Daylight,” his collaboration with Jonny Rose, which is off his latest album, Find Your Harmony. He encouraged his fans to raise their hands up, and keep them raised. “New York,” Rayel exclaimed. Rayel played his remixes of Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris’ hit single “Outside,” as well as Florence Welch’s “Sweet Nothing,” but the highlight remix of the evening was Zedd’s “Clarity,” which resonated well with the Marquee audience. Another favorite performance involved Rayel playing Dash Berlin, Jay Cosmic and Collin McLaughlin’s smash iTunes single “Here Tonight.”
Rayel’s set featured a grand production, with confetti drizzling from the ceiling, pyrotechnics on champagne bottles, which celebrated several fans’ festive occasions, including his own birthday.
The Verdict
Overall, Andrew Rayel delivered a very charismatic and passionate set for his debut performance at Marquee Nightclub in New York. He was able to make every song that he remixed his own, and his own tracks were equally superb and noteworthy. The world’s top DJ, Armin van Buuren, was spot on when he declared Rayel the “future of trance music,” and judging from this show, the trance genre of music is in good hands. Rayel’s show at Marquee garnered an A rating.
