Jazz singer and composer Anaïs Reno released her new studio album “Lady of the Lavender Mist.”

She collaborates consistently with jazz guitarist Peter Bernstein on this collection.

Reno performs the opener “Les Feuilles Mortes/The Autumn Leaves,” in French and English, as she displays her rich, harking voice. It immediately breaks into “When Lights Are Low,” which is reminiscent of Amy Winehouse meets Lady Gaga.

It is followed by the blues-soaked and sultry “Gravy Waltz” and the title track “Lady of the Lavender Mist,” which showcases her controlled and soothing vocals.

Equally noteworthy are “I’ll Remember April” and the smooth “Take Love Easy.”

After “Poinciana,” which has an eerie vibe to it, the album closes with the pristine ballad “Round Midnight” (where the listener can recall the late but great Karen Carpenter) and on a fitting note with the upbeat “Kiss and Run.”

Each of the nine songs on this collection has its own identity, and it allows her storytelling ability to shine.

Her new album “Lady of the Lavender Mist” garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
