On Saturday, April 26th, Amy Winehouse tribute artist Tierney performed at Joanne Trattoria in New York City, for a sold-out venue.

Joanne Trattoria is an Italian-American restaurant and entertainment hub in the Upper West Side, which is owned by Joe Germanotta, Lady Gaga’s father and Second Wind Media partner.

This marked Tierney’s second time playing at Joanne Trattoria; she previously performed her Lady Gaga tribute show back in March, which was well-received.

On performing her Amy Winehouse set, Tierney remarked, “This is so cool! I’m doing this for Joe [Germanotta] because he has such a soft spot in his heart for Amy Winehouse.”

“We are definitely going to do all of Amy’s hits that everyone knows and a couple of deep cuts. I might bring in a little bit of Lady Gaga as a little surprise,” she revealed. “How about a little ‘Mayhem’,” she said with a sweet laugh.

Tierney was drawn to Winehouse’s music because they both look alike. “I was also able to mimic her voice, so we had that in common,” she said.

Setlist

Tierney kicked off her show with a distinct and controlled version of “Tears Dry On their Own,” which ironically enough, is this journalist’s personal favorite Amy Winehouse tune.

She immediately broke into “Cupid” and she simply destroyed the heartbreaking “Love is a Losing Game.”

Tierney showcased her blues-soaked vocals on “Wake Up Alone” and continued with the viciously witty “Fuck Me Pumps,” the lilting “Just Friends,” and the jazzy “Stronger Than Me.” She tackles the subject matter of cheating in the guilt-ridden “You Know I’m No Good.”

After a brief intermission, she returned to the Joanne Trattoria stage where she performed “Back to Black,” where Tierney was presented black roses by Second Wind Media partner Gabby Gabriel.

It was followed by her exquisite performance of Amy Winehouse’s Grammy award-winning hit single “Rehab,” where everybody was reciting the chorus verbatim.

Tierney, who did her best trying to emulate Amy’s British speaking accent throughout the night, closed her set with “Vanish Into You” from Lady Gaga’s new album “Mayhem,” as well as on a fun and upbeat note by covering Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra,” where she got everybody in the restaurant on their feet dancing and clapping along.

The message that Tierney wanted to get out tonight is that Amy Winehouse’s musical legacy lives on forever, and it is safe to say that she accomplished that goal.

“Amy’s music is important and even though she has been gone for a while, her music will live on,” Tierney expressed.

“The Amy Winehouse tribute show was amazing. The performer exceeded my expectations; Tierney was warm, engaging and she got us up to dance. It was just perfect! I stayed longer than I intended, and it was worth it,” Jeanna Grybas exclaimed, fan and attendee.
