Oscar nominated-actress and singer Amy Irving (“Yentl”) joins forces with Grammy winner Steve Earle on their new duet “I Wish I Didn’t Love You So.”

This harking new single is the latest offering from her upcoming studio album “Always Will Be,” which will be released on April 25th via Queen Of The Castle Records/Missing Piece Records.

Ironically enough, while the new record is a tribute to Willie Nelson’s timeless musical catalog, this was one of the two songs that he didn’t write on this collection.

“I Wish I Didn’t Love You So” was originally written by Tony award-winning songwriter Frank Loesser in 1947 for the Paramount movie “The Perils of Pauline,” and it was made popular by Country Music Hall of Famer Willie Nelson with his classic baritone voice.

This somber ballad has a retro vibe to it, and it finds Irving and Earle exchanging conversational but not contrived verses about a lover’s lament over a blues-soaked and jazzy arrangement.

The listener can recall elements of the late but great Patsy Cline meets Dame Vera Lynn in Irving’s resonant voice.

The inclusion of Steve Earle on this tune is sheer bliss, and the horn section helps elevate it to a higher level.
