Todd Carey served as one of his opening acts. Fradiani opened his set with “Nothing to Lose” and it was followed by “Howl at the Moon” and “Feel The Beat.” It was a blend of music from his debut album, Hurricane, as well as newer songs and some exceptional cover tunes.
Speaking of covers, Fradiani sang Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’s “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark,” The Beatles classic “Come Together,” as well as a killer acoustic version of Billy Joel’s “The Downeaster Alexa.”
The Connecticut native closed his set with his Idol coronation song, “Beautiful Life,” where he brought out a surprise guest on stage.
His encore included three incredible cover songs such as Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes,” which he sang in his American Idol days, as well as MatchboxTwenty’s “3 A.M.” and the Leonard Cohen classic “Hallelujah,” where he was accompanied on piano by his father, and they sang it as a duet, as fans sang along with them. Most impressive about Fradiani is throughout the night, he discussed the influences behind every cover song that he performed and he interacted well with his Manhattan audience.
The Verdict
Overall, Nick Fradiani gave New York City a night of acoustic music to remember. It felt like he was performing for his fans in his very own living room, in a warm yet intimate setting. He showcased a great deal of talent. Fradiani deserves to be checked out live. His show garnered an A rating.
