They shared the stage with such rock acts as Saint Asonia, Breaking Benjamin and Disturbed.
Alter Bridge opened their set with “Come to Life” and it was followed by the up-tempo “Ties That Bind,” as vibrant lights dimmed from the stage.
They continued with the powerful yet haunting drum-driven tune “Farther Than the Sun,” where Scott Phillips rocked the drums. Ever gracious, Alter Bridge gave a shout-out to the other bands on their touring roster, which included Saint Asonia, Breaking Benjamin and Disturbed.
“Isolation” was the fan-favorite song of the evening, where the audience was singing along. Kennedy displayed his dynamic and versatile vocal range, while Mark Tremonti killed the lead guitar and Brian Marshall nailed the bass.
After the rocking and spitfire “Metalingus,” they closed with “Addicted to Pain,” a standout track from their previous studio album Fortress, as well as “Rise Today,” where they left their fans yearning for more. Their forthcoming studio album, The Last Hero, will be out in October.
The Verdict
Overall, Myles Kennedy and Alter Bridge were superb at Jones Beach. Despite the heavy rain, they were able to captivate the crowd of hard rock fans thanks to their upbeat and electrifying set. Kennedy’s voice is an eighth world wonder. Alter Bridge is one of the best live rock acts one will see in the contemporary music scene. Their show garnered 5 out of 5 stars.
