It was great to hear her sing her signature classics, such as the mellifluous “Baby, Now That I’ve Found You,” “Maybe,” “Forget About It,” “The Lucky One” and the equally gorgeous, upbeat and refreshing “Stay.” Krauss’ honey-rich voice was ethereal as always. She was able to showcase her tremendous pipes on “Ghost in this House”; moreover, she paid homage to the late Glen Campbell by serenading the audience to “Gently on My Mind,” which is also a track featured on her latest studio effort, the critically-acclaimed Windy Cindy.
Krauss also sang a haunting, piano-driven version of “Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground,” which would have made Country Music Hall of Famer Willie Nelson proud, who was the original writer, singer and producer of the song. The control she maintained over her voice throughout the entire show was impeccable.
Just when one thought that Krauss could not get any better, she proved Radio City Music Hall wrong with her heavenly rendition of “When You Say Nothing at All.”
The Verdict
Overall, Alison Krauss was amazing at Radio City Music Hall. She let her angelic voice, and vivacious fiddle playing to do all the talking. Tonight, Krauss proved that every award and accolade that she ever earned in the music industry was based on sheer merit and outstanding musicianship. Her live performance at Radio City Music Hall stole the show, and even upstaged David Gray. She earned an A rating for a remarkable concert.
