Review: Adele amazes Madison Square Garden, gives shout-out to Brangelina (Includes first-hand account)

She began her show with her multi-No. 1 week single “Hello,” as she left her fans in goosebumps. She immediately broke into “Hometown Glory” and “One and Only,” which was one of the highlight vocals of the evening, thus displaying her powerhouse voice. Adele showed her sassy side on “Rumour Has it” and her version of “Skyfall” was soulful and captivating.

“Million Years Ago” was raw and acoustic, and the same holds true for “Don’t You Remember,” which she sang in a stripped down fashion, showcasing the purity of her voice.

The control she maintained over her vocals on “Make You Feel My Love” was quite impeccable, and it was an absolute bliss to hear her latest radio single live, “Send My Love (to Your New Lover).”

She went on to take her fans on a trip down memory lane with her Grammy-winning “Chasing Pavements,” and she closed her set with the piano-driven “Someone Like You,” which was sheer perfection, and “Set Fire to the Rain,” prior to returning for a two-song encore that included the nostalgic “When We Were Young” and her signature song “Rolling in the Deep.”

Most impressive was the fact that she joked about the end of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s relationship, affectionately known as Brangelina, which ended in a divorce, and she could not believe that this made “front page news,” out of everything that is going on in the world. Even when the British songstress cursed, she did it in an eloquent manner.

The Verdict

Overall, Adele left her New York fans in total awe for the entire concert. She began the show in a punctual manner, and was able to lure them in from the very first note she belted out in “Hello.” She is consistently excellent, and her vocals were expressive and remarkable. Her concert earned five out of five stars.
