Review: Adam Lambert phenomenal on George Michael tribute in Los Angeles (Includes first-hand account)

This event was at the Project Angel Food’s 2017 Angel Awards GALA, which took place in Los Angeles, California. This nonprofit organization is responsible for delivering meals to people that are critically ill.

Lambert dedicated a three-song set to the late British pop star and Wham! front-man. He was one of many performers (from stage and television) that tipped their hats to Michael, as they simultaneously raised funds for the Project Angel Food organization.

Michael was posthumously honored with the Elizabeth Taylor Leadership Award for his decades of service to Project Angel Food, where he would donate $25,000 annually to this charity.

Lambert’s vivacious rendition of George Michael’s “Faith” was upbeat and refreshing. He also sang a spell-binding version of “One More Try.”

Equally phenomenal was his powerhouse rendition of Queen’s “Somebody to Love.” “Now, I know my way around a couple of Queen songs,” he admitted. “Actually, round circle here, is that he recorded this song for the Freddie Mercury tribute in 1991, after Freddie had passed, and the song became a huge hit, so I’m going to connect the circle and we’re going to do “Somebody to Love’,” he added, and belted out the classic tune.
