“A Winning Team,” starring actors Kristoffer Polaha and Nadia Hatta, is a winning new romantic comedy on the Hallmark Channel.

This new original film premiered tonight on Saturday, March 18. Jason Furukawa directed the movie from a screenplay by Ronee Uyeshiro.

The synopsis is: When pro soccer player Emily Chen (Nadia Hatta) finds herself no longer in the game, she teams up with Ian Vermette (Kristoffer Polaha), a laid-back small town coach, to lead her niece’s team to the playoffs.

When she accidentally injures her niece Ava’s coach, Ian Vermette (Polaha), she covers for him and leads Ava’s team into the playoffs.

With a shot at the championship at stake, Emily and Ian’s different coaching styles threaten their goals, but as they begin to warm up to each other on and off
the field, they each make strides toward healing old wounds.

When Emily gets an offer from her old coach to return, their romantic relationship is threatened.

This movie is realistic, authentic, and sincere. Anybody that enjoyed Kristoffer Polaha in the sports drama “Run the Race” will certainly find “A Winning Team” to be a real treat.

Hopefully, this is a harbinger that there will be more Hallmark movies for Nadia Hatta in the future, because she proves to be a strong female lead performer.

The Verdict

Overall, “A Winning Team” is a poignant romantic comedy, where the viewers will want to root for the lead characters. It has a heartwarming message to it, and it is full of heart and inspiration.

Kristoffer Polaha delivers a triumphant acting performance as Ian opposite the wonderful Nadia Hatta as Emily. “A Winning Team” garners an A rating.
