Review: 98 Degrees charms on ‘Circle of Life’ version for ‘The Lion King’ (Includes first-hand account)

Nick Lachey nails the lead vocals, and fellow band-mates Jeff Timmons, Drew Lachey and Justin Jeffre compliment him on the soaring harmonies. This new arrangement of “Circle of Life” is refreshing, and they sing with a great deal of heart. One can really tell that this is a special song for the band members, and their families, and they simply knock it out of the park.

The song’s music video features neat images from the animated motion picture The Lion King, as well as 98 Degrees singing in the studio, acting goofy and having fun together as a group.

It is great to see 98 Degrees working with Disney again. They previously worked with them for the 1998 Mulan soundtrack, where they sang the duet “True to Your Heart” with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Stevie Wonder.

The Verdict

Overall, 98 Degrees has done a superb job covering “Circle of Life” with their velvet vocals. It is a well-crafted 90’s throwback tune, and they have done the original recording justice. Elton John would be smiling upon this bold rendition. Their version garners an A rating.
