At around 11:30 p.m. ET, Branson was supposed to report on the Grammy Awards outside L.A.’s Staples Center. But when she spoke, she mangled the word “heavy” and then continued with a series of nonsensical words. She looked confused and embarrassed, and the camera quickly shot away from her to pre-recorded Grammy footage.
The Telegraph reports it’s feared Branson endured a stroke on camera. Strokes can cause slurring of the speech and unintelligible speaking.
But Branson’s station KCAL9 contradicts earlier reports, saying Branson was never hospitalized, adding “she is feeling fine this morning.” KCBS didn’t confirm or deny the claims Branson suffered a stroke.
Her bio on the KCAL9 website says Branson is a two-time Emmy nominee and the winner of the Frank Shakespeare Award for Outstanding Achievement in Journalism.
