Actor Rafael Petardi chatted about his latest endeavors in the entertainment industry.
‘Siberia’
On being a part of “Siberia” with Keanu Reeves, he said, “That was awesome. It was a lot of fun, and one of my favorite projects to work on primarily due to Keanu Reeves; everything they say about him is true, he is a saint.”
‘Depth of Field’
For his lead performance as Charles in “Depth of Field,” he earned recognition in the independent film circuit. “To this day, this is my favorite project that I’ve worked on,” he admitted.
“It was an awesome experience. I loved playing Charles, it was great. The people were wonderful, and it was really magical because we filmed it during COVID,” he added.
The digital age
On being an actor in the digital age, he said, “I am very hopeful about it. I think the digital age is great. From my perspective, it means that more people can make more projects, so there will be more opportunities. People just need to get adjusted to this reality.”
“AI will change things but I feel like it’s Y2K. AI will change the business but people will have access to more new technology so more work will be available. I don’t see it as something that will diminish work,” he explained.
“A lot more opportunities will open up because of AI. I think it’s exciting,” he exclaimed.
‘Carmen Sandiego’
On being a part of the animated action-adventure television series, he said, “It was so much fun. The voice actors on that were so amazing. I was just in awe.”
Rafael Petardi: The food sourcing expert
In addition to his career in entertainment, he is also a food sourcing expert. “I love cooking. I’m the son of immigrants, so when I was young, we made everything from scratch,” he said.
“I have enjoyed doing that from six years old. Today, I have all this knowledge to make food. I want to improve on those recipes, and I mill my own flour and I source my own grains from local farmers. Even when I travel, I go to the local farmer’s markets and I get the best ingredients,” he elaborated.
“I support regenerative farming and agriculture. Regenerative agriculture is the only way to go,” he said. “If 50 percent of the planet starts going the regenerative route, our carbon footprint is going to start reversing; it is quite amazing. That is why it is becoming more and more popular.”
He expressed how much he loves the environmental documentary film “Kiss the Ground,” which was directed by Josh and Rebecca Tickell.
Future plans
On his plans for the future, Petardi remarked, “I have a lot of plans for the future. There are a lot of little projects on the way, most of which are in the developmental stage right now. I am also writing, and working on some voiceover and video game projects.”
Stage of his life
Regarding the title of the current chapter of his life, he said with a sweet laugh, “Life is very good.”
Advice for young and aspiring actors
For young and aspiring actors, he said, “Do your own work, and just become really good at your craft. If you become really good, people will notice. Whether it’s voiceover, film, TV, or theatre, it’s a craft. Every opportunity you get to practice your craft, just do it, and become really good at it.”
“Become the best that you can be in your craft, and things will happen,” he underscored. “I truly believe that.”
Success
On his definition of the word success, he said, “For me, success is enjoying what you do. If you love what you do, and you are able to put your time into it, then that’s a success.”
